Igbinedion University rang in the New Year with its first official occasion; an event befitting of the establishment within which it took place: a book fair. After all, what better way to start off the year at an educational institution than by supporting and encouraging a strong reading habit amongst the IUO and larger communities? It took place today, Wednesday January 9th, 2019 in the Exhibition Hall of the University’s Main Library.
Members of staff moseyed around outside the Library, waiting for the event to commence. The Librarian, Yakubu Izevbhekai, was front and center of the event, opening up the floor with a welcome speech, and then handing over to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Deborah Odejimi. Representing the Vice Chancellor, Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, she officially launched the event, cutting the ceremonial ribbon in the Library entrance. The crowd then transferred to the middle of the Library floor known as the Exhibition Hall, weaving in and out of carefully placed bookshelves, perusing the wide reading selection.
With that the Book Fair, is officially in Session. It will continue until Saturday, January 12th; Hurry! You still have time to purchase some prime reading material!
