On Monday, November 21, 2022, Igbinedion University Okada, Nigeria's premier private university, officially launched the Igbinedion Hub, a smart campus hub. According to the University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, the Igbinedion Hub is a collaboration between Igbinedion University and Ehizua Hub, established to facilitate the joint delivery of education programmes in partnership with Torrens University Australia and other international universities. He described the university's smart campus vision, which was born in 2018, as a mustard seed that grew into a massive project with great potentials
A former Minister of Agriculture and Igbinedion University Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Prof. Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah while full of appreciation for the University management ably led by Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye for his astute leadership prowess, said that research and development are critical pillars driving knowledge production at both the institutional and national developmental levels. He added that "Through the hub, Igbinedion University is creating a culture that nurtures creativity and inspires inspiration, fosters collaboration, and fosters the ability to think creatively. Digital literacy, as an essential component of the hub, provides innovative solutions to complex challenges. Upskilling, creative technology, start-ups, co-working spaces, smart pathways, an online learning management system, and fostering digital innovation and technopreneurship are among the activities of the hub”.
