Registry is to the University what a motherboard is to any device-DVC. Prof. Odejimi.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada, Professor Deborah Odejimi has highlighted the roles of an effective University Registry comparing it to what the motherboard is to any good device.

Prof. Odejimi said this in her remarks at the Opening Ceremony of a Two-Day Capacity Building Workshop for Igbinedion University Registry Administrative Staff which held on Tuesday at the university main campus Okada.

The IUO DVC also harped on the need for effective interpersonal communication among the officers of the registry from top to bottom and bottom to top.

Speaking further on the essence of the workshop which is “Work Ethics and Effective Communications”, the Resource person for the two-day workshop who is also the Registrar of Igbinedion University Okada, Mr. Friday Benji Bakare Esq. Said the Workshop was organized primarily to inculcate acceptable behavioral pattern, work ethics as well as to promote a culture effective communication amongst the ranks of attendees who are mainly registry staff of the University.

The Registrar also emphasized the importance of the University to nation building through knowledge building and sharing, research and community service. He further informed the attendees that for the University to seamlessly achieve these roles, the Registry must perform within the spheres of excellence. Consequently, the training and re-training of its staff with a view to attain professionalism becomes an inevitable duty.

The Workshop was conveyed at the instance of the Registrar- Friday Benji Bakare Esq., with the Theme of the workshop ”Work Ethics and Effective Communications”. According to the Registrar,

The workshop also exposed to the participants acceptable ethical standards and ideal in the University were made known. The meeting reiterated the University’s Mission and Vision statements, Core Values, Motto, Registry Goals as well as its Slogan.

The Registrar enjoined participants to internalize these important statements as they show the operational direction of the University and should guide them in their official dispositions. The Workshop was very interactive as attendees showed zeal in participating in its proceedings.

Other top management staff present at the Workshop include the University Bursar Mr. Emmanuel Imafidon and The Librarian Dr. Lucky Tijani Abdulsalami.

The Workshop ends on 29th September, 2021 with lectures on effective communication.
