Igbinedion University Okada, was on Wednesday 23rd January, 2019 agog as all students in 300 level across all colleges and departments did their product exhibition. A compulsory practical course for all students of Igbinedion University.
Igbinedion University, Nigeria’s Premier Private University presently has 12 schools in it’s entrepreneurship Centre where students are trained in various skills.
The schools include: Tailoring/fashion design, catering, cakes and events coverage, hair care beads fashion, automobile driving, cosmetics and toiletries, school of music, Desktop publishing, school of technology and many more. Declaring the event open, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, commended the students and the supervisor for the quality time committed to the training.
He said Igbinedion University was committed to seeing that its students are properly prepared for work at the point of graduation. The Vice-Chancellor expressed that the training would enable Igbinedion University Students either establish as full-time entrepreneurs or use the skills to make extra income, while practicing their profession.
He recalled that in a recent meeting of all Vice-Chancellors, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) set up a committee to look into the training in Nigerian Universities that would make graduates ready for work at the point of graduation.
Impressed about the presentation of the various Schools, the Vice-chancellor asked the groups to come up with a project the University would fund for the groups to run, while the profit would be shared between the student entrepreneurial groups and the University.
Professor Ezemonye later displayed his music dexterity when he led the management to take a special number with the school of music.
