The Deputy Registrar of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria, Miss Oladunni Ogunsulire, on Tuesday visited the Igbinedion University, Okada, with the view of establishing a linkage between the institute and Igbinedion University.
The Deputy Registrar who was visiting in company of the manager operations, Mr. Akumefula Ojiji, said the Institute was a professional body that prepares candidates for membership examinations among other things.
She noted that the institute had existed for fifty years in Nigeria, stressing that most of the super permanent secretaries of old in Nigeria have been members of the Institute.
Miss Ogunsulire explained that the institute’s collaboration with the Igbinedion University would exempt the graduates of the University from the preliminary stages of the qualification examinations, while students who intend to write the examination while in school, would go through all the stages.
She further stated that the institute accommodates people from all professional backgrounds, to go through the membership training and become chattered administrators.
According to her, the curriculum for training by the institute includes Corporate Law, Economics, Communication in English and many others, noting that chartered secretaries and administrators can work in any environment, and the institute can also issue a practicing license to the members to establish as entrepreneurs.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye said Igbinedion University insists on professionalism in all its programmes.
He described the institute as very versatile in many respects, especially in areas of corporate finance management and administration.
The Vice Chancellor stated that beyond the heads of departments, provost and deans, the training would be extended to other staff; assuring that Igbinedion University was willing to fully engage with the institute. The VC hinted of a workshop to be organized by both establishments -IUO and ICSAN- sometime in April 2019
