BRIEF PROFILE OF ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT

The Department started operation in 1999/2000 academic session as a full flesh department under the college of business and management studies to train student in B.Sc  Accounting. The M.Sc Accounting program commence in 2009/2010 academic session with a total number of 24 students. Likewise the Ph.D Accounting program commence few years after with a good number of students. Recently the department commence the conversion program from HND to B.Sc in accounting, the duration of which is two academic sessions. The online distance learning program (ODL) of the university will soon commence with accounting department as it starting point. The department have linkage programmes with notable professional accounting bodies such as Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) etc. The fundamental objective of these programmes is to train and equip both academic and non-academic staff and other people outside the University community with academic and professional knowledge that will place them above board in the society. The department has trained a good number of graduates and post-graduate personnel who are gainfully employed in the field of academics and other notable industries and departments both in and outside the country.
