Biography

Prof Igbe is currently the Dean, College of Pharmacy, Igbinedion University. He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (2000), Masters in Pharmacology (2007) and PhD in Pharmacology (2010) from the University of Benin. He was a Visiting Research Scholar at the Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas, USA (2008 – 2010) and completed his Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Chengdu Institute of Biology in Sichuan Province, China under the Chinese Academy of Sciences PIFI Fellowship (2015 – 2016). He became a full professor of Pharmacology of University of Benin in 2019. He has published over 60 publications in peer reviewed and high impact indexed journals and contributed chapters to books. He is a reviewer to numerous national and international journals, notably for the British Pharmacological Society (BPS). Prof Ighodaro Igbe is a recipient of numerous Awards/Prizes, including Best graduating student in final degree exam in the Faculty of Pharmacy (2000), Stephen Oluwole Awokoya Foundation for Science Education scholar (2006), Best Lecturer, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Benin (2007) and Graduate Student Travel Award by the American Society for Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics (2010). He has served an external examiner at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level to the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria, Niger Delta University, Bayelsa, Delta state University, Abraka, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. He has also served as member of accreditation panel of the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria (PCN), to several universities. He has held several key University positions, including Head of Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Benin , Faculty of Pharmacy Postgraduate Seminar coordinator, Pioneer Chairman, University of Benin Central Biomedical research Laboratory, Member, University of Benin Biomedical Research Committee; Faculty Examination Officer, Member, University of Benin Research and Publication Committee (F/URPC) amongst others.
