Onyinye Cecilia Arinze-Anyiam is a highly skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist, born on November 7, 1986, in Nigeria. She is married with two kids, a Nigerian by nationality. She is a detail-oriented and diligent individual who is highly proficient in peripheral blood film reading and malaria microscopy, as well as other areas of Medical laboratory diagnoses in Haematology and Blood Transfusion, Medical Microbiology, and Clinical Chemistry. She is also passionate about disease prevention and monitoring, medical research, and teaching. Onyinye has accumulated over eight years of professional experience in the medical laboratory field, with experience in handling over 2,000 haematology, blood transfusion, medical microbiology, and chemistry samples. She has worked as a Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist and General Manager at Viewpoint Medical Diagnostic Centre, Ilorin, Kwara State, since March 2021, where she carries out routine, general, and specialized medical laboratory tests. Onyinye is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management and general operations of the Medical Laboratory and Radiography Departments. She supervises the training of junior Laboratory staff, maintains appropriate stocks of consumables and reagents to ensure minimal wastage, and carries out preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment. Onyinye prepares and reviews blood films for the presence of abnormal blood cell morphology, reconstitutes and stores control materials, calibrators, and reagents for use, and uses elab LIMS software to track and monitor consumables. Onyinye previously worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at Nova Diagnostic Centre, Ilorin, Kwara State, from October 2020 to February 2021. During her time there, she conducted specialized medical laboratory tests, prepared samples for testing on different types of laboratory equipment, and supervised and conducted on-site training for junior medical laboratory staff, students, and related healthcare professionals. Onyinye has also worked as a Lecturer/Medical Laboratory Scientist at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala, Anambra state, where she taught Medical Laboratory students courses in the area of Haematology and Blood Transfusion and also taught students who were on Clinical Laboratory posting. Onyinye has also completed an internship as a Medical Laboratory Scientist Intern at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu State, where she engaged in rotatory Laboratory postings in the areas of Haematology, Immunology, Clinical Chemistry, Morbid Anatomy, Medical Microbiology. Onyinye has a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science from Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Biomedical Science from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso. In addition to her educational and professional accomplishments, Onyinye has obtained several online certifications in Disease Screening in Public Health, Psychological First Aid, Introduction to Research Ethics, and Introduction to Biostatistics from Johns Hopkins University. Onyinye is a member of the British Society for Parasitology, Haematology and Blood Transfusion Scientists Society of Nigeria, and the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria. She is a team player, a fast thinker, and can work under pressure and for long hours. She is also friendly, easy-going, and always willing to learn new skills.
