

In a grand ceremony held in Abuja on Monday 18th November 2024 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), two hundred and eleven distinguished engineers were conferred with the prestigious fellowship of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. The event celebrated the unparalleled and exceptional contributions of these noble and eminent professionals to the engineering field and marked not only a personal achievement for each of the Fellows but a significant milestone in advancing engineering excellence in our beloved country. It was presided over by the President and chairman-in-council of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, FNSChE, the 34th President and first female President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. Addressing and congratulating the conferees, the president reminded them that this elevation is an added responsibility to discharge their reinforced roles as emissaries and purveyors of ethical leadership and integrity in engineering practice, double commitment to upholding the high standards that guide the practice of the profession. She also emphasized that Fellows have the unique responsibility to exemplify engineering values and serve as guardians of engineering professional standards. She reiterated to the new Fellows that their voice, influence, and expertise will be instrumental in shaping policies, mentoring young engineers, and advocating for a stronger engineering profession in Nigeria.
The Nigerian Society of Engineers is the umbrella organization for the engineering profession in Nigeria which enhances professional standards and ethical practices. The society aims to promote the advancement of engineering education, research, and engineering practices in Nigeria with a view of building engineers’ capacity to serve mankind and develop a better society through technological advancement. A fellow of the society is the highest distinguished and honorable category of membership in the Society notable for selfless and valuable contributions to the professional body with widely acknowledged authority. It is the highest level any practicing engineer in Nigeria can attain.
