Dr. Aisha Laraba Abdullahi is an accomplished Nigerian diplomat and international administrator who served as the Commissioner for Political Affairs at the
African Union Commission from 2012 to 2016. In this high-ranking continental role, she was responsible for promoting democracy, human rights, and good governance across Africa, while overseeing the implementation of the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance. Prior to her service at the African Union, she represented Nigeria on the global stage as the Ambassador to the Republic of Guinea. Her career has been defined by a commitment to conflict prevention and the advancement of the Africa 2063 Agenda. She is particularly recognized for her advocacy regarding women’s participation in political leadership and her efforts to address the root causes of illegal migration and human trafficking. Currently, Dr. Abdullahi remains active in the humanitarian and developmental sectors. She serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the
Savannah Institute for Sustainable Development, where she continues to focus on improving the quality of life for Africans through sustainable policy initiatives.
