Professor (Mrs.) Georgina Omonegho Erifeta is a distinguished Professor of Biochemistry at Igbinedion University, Okada, whose career is defined by a commitment to environmental sustainability and international academic diplomacy. With nearly two decades of experience, she has risen to the rank of Professor within the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, specializing in Ecotoxicology and Environmental Biochemistry. Her research focuses heavily on “waste-to-wealth” initiatives, investigating biomass maximization and resource recovery to address the biochemical challenges posed by crude oil toxicity and climate change. Beyond her scientific contributions, Professor Erifeta is a prominent leader in global engagement, serving as the Director of the Benin City Window on America, a U.S. Department of State initiative. In this capacity, she facilitates public diplomacy, professional development, and educational exchange programs. Her international standing was further solidified as a 2024 Commonwealth Professional Fellow at Lancaster University, UK, where she focused on eco-innovation and sustainable environmental practices.
