Adetoyi Oluwadamilola Dorcas, a 500-level Pharmacy student of Igbinedion University, Okada, represented both her institution and her startup HealthXsync at the NextGen Innovation Challenge 2026 National Showcase held at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
As Co-Founder and CEO of HealthXsync, Dorcas presented an AI-powered clinical and career platform designed primarily for pharmacy and pharmaceutical healthcare. According to her, the ecosystem aims to give pharmacists and other healthcare professionals easier access to clinical intelligence, drug information, medication safety tools, professional opportunities and industry updates.
Dorcas said the platform was developed in response to fragmented information sources, medication errors, counterfeit medicines, limited access to clinical decision-support tools, and challenges around professional development and employment in the sector. “The goal is to create a more integrated digital environment that supports safer medication use and better healthcare delivery.” She said.
Speaking after the event, she highlighted the value of combining pharmaceutical knowledge with technology and entrepreneurship. “The future of pharmacy will extend beyond traditional dispensing roles,” she noted, emphasising the need for pharmacists to engage with AI, digital tools, medication safety, patient education and professional development.
Dorcas described the event as a significant milestone in both her academic and entrepreneurial journey. She expressed gratitude to Igbinedion University, Okada, and the organisers of the NextGen Innovation Challenge/NBTI for providing a platform for young innovators to present ideas and contribute to Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem.
