Engineer Avemaria Mattew Eze works with Igbinedion University, Okada, as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering from the year 2004 to date.

He was appointed HOD of the Civil Engineering Department (for the Period 2004 to 2014).

Engr. Avemaria Matthew Eze has published over fifteen (15) research papers in journals as well as presented over nine (9) papers in conferences; seminars and workshops. He had also completed two University Sponsored Research Projects as well as supervised over seventy (70) final year student projects (for the period 2007 to 2021).

Engr. Avemaria Matthew Eze had extensively practiced Civil Engineering (both in consultancy and  Construction Industry) for over thirty five (35) years (before taking up career in academics) and he had  gained considerable experience in Civil Engineering in general and Water Resources / Environmental  Engineering and Structural Design in particular. His wide and extensive experience includes:  feasibility studies, planning, design, appraisal, construction supervision and management of varieties of  projects such as: water schemes namely; water  supply, irrigation, wastewater disposal systems, storm water drainage, erosion / flood control, mini – dam  design, construction and rehabilitation, as well as steel / reinforced concrete structures, residential and  industrial buildings etc. Most of these projects got up to final detailed engineering design stage and were  executed by various clients such as State Water Agencies, River Basins nationwide and, in particular, under  the sponsorship or assistance of multi – national funding institutions such as the African Development Bank  (ADB), World Bank etc.

He had equally participated in preparation of the contract documents, Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation, BEME of these projects as well as their bid evaluation. He had worked with many engineering based firms in various capacities most especially Summit Engineering Research Corporation and Catech Consultants (Abakare & Partners), Benin City where he held the position of director of engineering project and chief engineer, respectively. He had also worked with Dictech Konsult (Nig.) Ltd. Benin City in the capacity as partner / director of engineering project operations.

In the past, he was a consultant to some Engineering based Firms.

Between 1992 and 1994, he did a Post – graduate course (M. Eng.) in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering in the University of Benin, Benin City. He is also doing his PhD in Water Resources / Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Benin, Benin City.
