Had Bachelor and Masters of Science Degrees in Political Science from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria and a PhD degree in Comparative Politics from the University of Ibadan in 1997. He has over twenty publications in reputable journals local and international including Oxford Handbook of Nigeria Politics, South African Journal of International Affairs, Sokoto Journal of the Social Sciences and many more. He has attended conferences and workshops both in Nigeria and abroad including the annual congresses/conferences of the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA). He started his career as a journalist with different front-line newspapers in Nigeria including the Nigerian Tribune, The Punch, Omega Weekly Magazine and Gotel radio and television, Yola. His early academic career was as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Political Science at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan in 1990; He became Chief Press Secretary and later the Special Assistant on Media to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar between 2003 and 2007. He also served as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State in 2011 under the administration of Abiola Ajimobi. Aside several chapter contributions to books, he co-edited a book titled “Issues in the 2019 General Elections in Nigeria” published in 2020 by the Centre for Presidential Studies (CSP) on which Board he serves as the Director and a Professor in the affiliated University, Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State. He is currently the Board Chair of the National Communication Commission (NCC).
