The High Commission of India in Abuja marked the 75th Republic Day of India with a vibrant celebration at the Chancery premises, graced by the esteemed presence of members of the Indian Community and friends of India. The festivities commenced with the uplifting unfurling of the National Flag by the High Commissioner, H.E. Mr. G. Balasubramanian, followed by the stirring rendition of the National Anthems.
Addressing the audience, the High Commissioner shared excerpts from the address of the President of India, H.E. Mrs. Droupadi Murmu, emphasizing the remarkable achievements and responsibilities of the Republic of India.
The event was further enriched by captivating cultural performances, including spirited dance presentations and patriotic song renditions by the Indian community members, alongside the felicitation of winners from the poetry recitation competition held in honor of World Hindi Day.
The occasion was graced by the distinguished presence of the Igbinedion University Okada delegation, led by the esteemed Vice-Chancellor Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, PhD, FAS, and Mr. Matt O. Akhionbare(OON), member of the University’s Governing Council,
who presented a plaque to the Indian High Commissioner, Shri G. Balasubramanian, during the 75th Indian Republic Day Cockrell.
In his address, the High Commissioner eloquently underscored the significance of Republic Day and expounded on the pivotal facets of India-Nigeria bilateral relations and recent developments. This was followed by insightful remarks from H.E Yusuf M. Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria, represented by Ambassador Alex Kefas, adding further depth to the commemoration.
The participation of the Igbinedion University Okada delegation in this momentous celebration stands as a testament to the enduring ties and mutual respect between India and Nigeria, reflecting a harmonious convergence of cultures and diplomatic amity.
