Investiture Ceremony Honors Sir Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion as Honorary Fellow of Nigeria Institute Of Landscape Horticulturists
On the 25th of April 2024, a prestigious Investiture Ceremony was held at the Central Library of Igbinedion University Okada, where the Esama Of Benin and Honorary Romanian Consul to Edo and Delta states, His Excellency Sir Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, was ceremoniously appointed as an Honorary Fellow of the Nigeria Institute Of Landscape Horticulturists. The event was graced by landscape horticulturists from across the nation and esteemed members of the Igbinedion University community in Okada.
Dr. Emmanuel Bankole, the National President of the Institute, had the honor of bestowing this prestigious title upon Sir Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion. In his address, Dr. Bankole commended the Esama of Benin for his unwavering dedication to environmental conservation, notably through his consistent efforts in tree planting within his surroundings.
The ceremony also witnessed the induction of other distinguished members of the institute as fellows, with Alhaji Quadri Murdeen Kolawole, the immediate past National President, among the honored recipients. During his acceptance speech, Sir Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion expressed gratitude to the Institute for the unexpected honor, highlighting his genuine passion for tree planting and his joy in contributing to a greener environment.
Paul Osula, the Edo State chairman of the Nigeria Institute Of Landscape Horticulturists, commended the Institute’s program of activities and expressed sincere appreciation for its fruitful endeavors.
Notable attendees included principal officers of Igbinedion University Okada, faculty members, and students, with distinguished figures such as Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Ralph Adeghe and Deputy Vice Chancellor & Chief Medical Director of Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, Prof Godwin Bazuaye, gracing the occasion with their presence. The event was a momentous celebration of environmental stewardship, honoring the remarkable contributions of Sir Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion to the field of landscape horticulture.
