Abdullah is a Professor of Finance and Investment Management, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and one time Director, Budget, Head of Department and Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Director General, Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, (ASCON) Badagry. S.A. Abdullah has been amongst many the following:

• Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Federal Republic of Nigeria
• UNDP and NEPAD consultant on capacity initiative development
• Chairperson Africa Management Institues Networks
• Member, Board of Governors of the Nigeria National Merit Award
• Distinguished recipient of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON)
• He holds the traditional titles of Cigarin Nupe and Owegan Badagry Kingdoms
