Every year, the world unites for 16 Days of Activism to amplify voices in the fight against gender-based violence. Despite the ongoing push for equality, equity, and justice, it is alarming that women and girls around the globe continue to face the brutal reality of gender-based violence. According to a United Nations report, every 10 minutes, a woman or girl is killed by someone she knows—totalling 144 lives lost each day. These perpetrators are often family members or friends, individuals they should trust and feel safe with.
This year, during the 16 Days of Activism campaign, we boldly declare that there is #NoExcuse for allowing this to persist. In collaboration with the Conference of Non-Governmental Organisations (CONGOs), Edo State, Benin City Window on America is hosting a one-day workshop designed to engage stakeholders and the public on actionable strategies to UNITE to End Violence Against Women.
