Dr. Obinna H. Ogbonna is a scholar of Globalization and Development Studies with a strong interdisciplinary background spanning Sociology, development studies, and management. Over the years, his academic work/research is deeply informed by a commitment to equity, participatory development, and the transformative role of institutions in Dr advancing human well-being.

A core area of Dr. Obinna’s scholarly interest is Gender Studies, particularly the mainstreaming of women and other marginalized groups in development discourse and practice. This interest has produced peer-reviewed academic publications, including “Gender and Politics: Gender Balance as a Panacea to a Credible and Successful Election” published in the Meditteranean Journal of Social Sciences (MJSS), as well as his M.Sc. thesis, “Millennium Development Goals and Women Empowerment: Women’s Perceptions of Relevant MDGs in Amuwo  Odofin Local Government Area, Lagos State, Nigeria.” His specialization in Development Studies prioritizes social justice, inclusivity, and gender-responsive development, with a consistent emphasis on the empowerment of women as a critical driver of sustainable development. Dr. Obinna currently serves as the Acting Secretary of the IUO Centre for Gender Studies, Advocacy, and Development, where he contributes to research coordination, advocacy initiatives, and institutional efforts aimed at advancing
