Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO). In May 2024, he reached a significant career milestone by delivering the university’s 24th Inaugural Lecture, titled
“Anthropomorphism of Corporate Entities in Nigeria Towards National Development,” where he advocated for treating corporations as legal “citizens” to drive economic and social progress. Before his elevation to the rank of Full Professor at Igbinedion University, Professor Umoru served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business Law at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), where he also earned his Ph.D. His extensive research portfolio includes critical appraisals of the funding of legal education in Nigeria and the protection of intellectual property rights against counterfeiting and piracy.
