Friday Benji Bakare, Esq. is a quintessential university administrator par excellence. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB Hons.) from
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a Barrister at Law (BL) certificate from the Nigerian Law School. He also holds Master’s degrees in International Affairs and Strategic Studies (MIASS) and Public Administration (MPA) respectively from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna – premier military university in sub-Saharan Africa. Additionally, he is a graduate of the prestigious Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) and the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji Senior Course 28 where he received an award for the Best Director’s Paper.
He started his public service career with the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna in 1985 rising to the position of Senior Deputy Registrar. He was subsequently appointed Registrar of
Igbinedion University Okada in 2020.
A seasoned administrator, corporate counsel, prolific writer and public speaker, Mr Bakare has delivered several papers at professional fora and published articles in journals. He has attended conferences both within and outside the country. In a bid to hone his skills, he has undertaken several professional certifications amongst which include the NUC/NOUN Virtual Institute for Capacity Building in Higher Education where he bagged a Certificate in Academic Planning with Distinction.
As a professional university administrator, he has contributed to policy development and implementation, with positive impact on the growth of the institutions he has been privileged to work. More importantly, he has mentored quite a number of colleagues who are holding important positions across universities in Nigeria.
Mr Bakare is a member of several professional and executive bodies including the Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU), Association of University Administrators (AUA) U.K, Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Mr Bakare’s areas of professional and research interests include University Administration/Higher Education Management and Leadership Studies. His hobbies include jogging, playing badminton, dancing and reading. He is happily married and blessed with children.
