The Department of Political Science, Igbinedion University Okada creates knowledge and insights through cutting-edge teaching and research that educates students on goals of responsible citizenship and preparing them for diverse range of fulfilling careers. We engage in academic training of undergraduate and postgraduate students using a variety of theoretically-informed and rigorous methods to credibly communicate evidence and identify new puzzles related to themes of domestic, global and transnational political realities including politics of public policies, identities and group competition, democratization and development, and representation and accountability. This training informs state-of-the-art teaching through a skills-oriented curriculum that emphasizes the analytic, communication, disciplinary, and research tools distinctive of political science as an academic discipline. We accomplish these goals by fostering collaborations among staff of colleges, graduate and undergraduate students both within and outside of Nigeria.
