On Thursday, January 4th, 2024, CP Funsho Adegboye,mni , the 46th Commissioner of Police in Edo State, made his inaugural visit to an educational institution in the state by paying a visit to Igbinedion University Okada. During the visit, he commended Sir Chief (DR.) Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion CFR, the Esama of Benin and Honourable Chancellor of the university, for his contributions to societal growth and development. CP Adegboye also expressed the Police Force’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with the university to promote peace in Ovia North-East Local Government.
In response, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye PhD, FAS, expressed gratitude for the visit and highlighted the university’s efforts in fostering the Industry-Academia interface, particularly through the establishment of the Buratai Centre for Security Studies. He also informed the police chief about the university’s upcoming 25th-anniversary celebration in May 2024 and discussed potential collaboration with the Edo State Command to provide educational opportunities for members of the force. Additionally, Professor Ezemonye shared news of the university’s accredited Open and Distance Learning Centre, aiming to facilitate academic pursuits for law enforcement personnel
