



In a stunning display of grit and determination, the College of Health Sciences emerged victorious in the 2025 Vice Chancellor’s Cup, dethroning the defending champions, Oba Erediauwa College of Law, in a fiercely contested final that was decided by a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.
The epic clash, held on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, at the University’s Crown Estate in Okada, ended in a 7-6 penalty victory for Health Sciences after regular and extra time failed to separate the two titans.
The prestigious event was graced by a host of eminent dignitaries, including the Deputy Chancellor, His Excellency Chief Dr. Lucky Igbinedion; the Pro-Chancellor & Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Ahmed Tijani Mora, mni; Governing Council member, Mr. Matt Akhionbare, OON; and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lawrence Ezemonye.
The match was a spectacle of skill and passion, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. Both teams created chances, but resilient defences and outstanding goalkeeping ensured a deadlock that led directly to penalties. The shootout was a tense affair, ultimately seeing the College of Health Sciences hold their nerve to clinch the coveted trophy with a 7-6 scoreline.
This victory marks a significant achievement for the College of Health Sciences, signalling a new champion for the prestigious inter-collegiate tournament.
