In a significant administrative move, Igbinedion University, Nigeria’s premier private university, has announced the appointment of Mr. Ahola Orgeh as its new Registrar, effective July 1, 2025. The appointment follows the conclusion of the tenure of the outgoing Registrar, Mr. Friday Benji Bakare.

Mr. Orgeh, a distinguished university administrator, brings over two decades of extensive experience to his new role. A graduate of Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, he also holds a Master’s degree in Industrial and Labour Relations from the University of Ibadan (1999). Before his appointment, Mr. Orgeh served in key administrative roles across several Nigerian universities, including Deputy Registrar positions at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi; the Federal University of Technology, Akure; and Benue State University, Makurdi. Notably, he had earlier contributed to the growth of Igbinedion University as a senior executive in the Registry Division, making his return a homecoming of sorts.

The University community has expressed optimism about Mr. Orgeh’s leadership, anticipating that his innovative administrative strategies will further enhance the institution’s global reputation. In a statement, the university said: “We are confident that Mr. Orgeh’s vast experience and dedication to excellence will drive administrative efficiency and reinforce our commitment to academic and institutional advancement.”

A native of Adim-Akp in Otukpo LGA, Benue State, Mr. Orgeh is expected to officially assume office on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. The university extends warm congratulations to him and looks forward to a transformative tenure under his leadership.
