 Okada, Nigeria, September 30, 2024 Igbinedion University Okada (IUO) officially welcomed its new cohort of students for the 2024/2025 academic year with an engaging orientation exercise held at the university’s main auditorium. The event, aimed at instilling values of innovation and academic excellence, was graced by the university’s vice chancellor, Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, and the Chief Medical Director, Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Ya’u Abubakar Gagarawa, and other members of the university’s management team.

In his opening address, Professor Ezemonye emphasised the importance of excellence and urged the fresh students to be innovative and dynamic during their time at IUO. “As you join the IUO family, I want you to reflect on how your time on campus will be utilized. Devote your talents and resources to ideas that contribute to the service of God and humanity,” he stated, encouraging the students to make meaningful contributions both academically and socially.

The Vice Chancellor highlighted that the orientation serves as a crucial platform for new students to familiarise themselves with the principles and practices of IUO. “This is not just an introduction; it is a well-structured welcome package designed to help you navigate the expectations of the university and the academic program ahead of you,” he explained.

The orientation program featured a series of informative presentations and workshops conducted by various university departments, including the Registry, Bursary, and Student Affairs Division. These sessions aimed to equip students with essential knowledge regarding university policies, financial management, and available support systems, ensuring a smooth transition into university life.

The event concluded with a call to action for students to embrace the opportunities ahead of them. “Your journey at Igbinedion University is what you make of it. Aim high, work hard, and remember that excellence is not just a goal but a way of life,” Professor Ezemonye urged.
