In an effort to strengthen ties and foster a sense of camaraderie among former students of the University, the Deputy Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Okada, His Excellency, Chief Dr. Lucky Igbinedion, hosted a national alumni Interface and luncheon in Abuja. The event, held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, brought together alumni from various chapters in the country led by the National President, Mr. Charles Akarolo, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and shared experiences.
The alumni Interface and luncheon, held at the residence of the Deputy Chancellor in Abuja, saw an impressive turnout of graduates from different parts of the country. Attendees were treated to a delightful evening of reminiscing, networking, and reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances. The event also featured engaging activities aimed at promoting unity and collaboration among the alumni.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chancellor, expressed gratitude for the alumni’s continued support and emphasised the university’s commitment to fostering lifelong connections with its graduates. He highlighted the achievements of the alumni in various professional fields, showcasing their contributions to the nation’s development.
In his speech, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, PhD., FAS, stressed the importance of alumni engagement in enhancing the university’s legacy and reputation. He encouraged the alumni to actively participate in initiatives that promote knowledge sharing, mentorship, and philanthropic endeavours, thereby creating a positive impact on society.
According to the National President of the IUO Alumni association, Mr Charles Akarolo “The national alumni Interface and luncheon provided an excellent platform for networking and forging new connections. Discussions revolved around industry trends, career opportunities, and ways in which alumni can contribute to the growth and advancement of their alma mater. Alumni shared their success stories, exchanged ideas, and explored possibilities for collaboration in research, entrepreneurship, and community development projects.”
The event concluded with a renewed sense of camaraderie and a pledge to maintain active alumni engagement. Both the Deputy Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor expressed their commitment to organising more such events in the future, enabling the university and its graduates to further strengthen their bond and create a lasting impact on society
