Biography

Akan Tom just concluded his PhD in Geographic Information System (GIS), has MSc. in Urban Studies, MSc. Geographic Information System (GIS) and BSc. Geography and Reginal Planning from the University of Uyo, Nigeria. He is a seasoned scholar with over 15 years of teaching/practical experiences, and well vast in his chosen areas of specialization. Has over fifteen journal articles and book chapters to his name, attended many conferences with paper presentations and possesses many statistical, analytical and modelling skills. His research interest and focus is in the Geographic Information System Applications, Remote Sensing, Cartography, Urban Studies, Environmental/Resources Management and Quantitative Analysis. Akan is a member of the Nigerian Cartographic Association (NCA), Geo-information Society of Nigeria (GEOSON) and Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG). He is married with children.
