Biography

Barrister Chike Nmerukini is a distinguished Nigerian legal practitioner and a high-ranking administrator in the Rivers State Local Government Service. As of early 2026, he serves as the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA) for the Port Harcourt City Local Government (PHALGA), where he oversees the administrative machinery and staff welfare of the state’s most prominent council. His career in public service is marked by his previous tenure as the Director of Administration and General Services for Obio/Akpor LGA.
In addition to his civil service career, Barrister Nmerukini is a key figure in academic governance, currently serving as a member of the Governing Council of Igbinedion University, Okada. A member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Port Harcourt Branch, since his call to the bar in 2008, he has successfully integrated his legal expertise with public administration and humanitarian advocacy. He is often recognized for his contributions to social welfare discussions, particularly regarding the legal rights of vulnerable groups and victims of terrorism. Deeply rooted in community development, Nmerukini is a celebrated philanthropist and traditional title holder in Rivers State.
