Brief Resume:
Holds a Bachelors degree in Pharmacy from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nigeria and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) as a full time student from the same University with Specialisation in Pharmaceutical Marketing. A Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP) and obtained a PhD degree in Management from the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto (UDUS), and defended the Thesis on: “Drug Distribution in Nigeria”. Member of the National Institute (mni) having successfully undertaken the Senior Executive Course (SEC)(32/2010) as participant. Practiced in all the four (4) core areas of practice in the pharmacy profession and reached the top in each case. In the Hospital Pharmacy Practice, reached the position of the Director of Pharmaceutical Services (DPS) in the Kaduna State Ministry of Health (MoH) in the headquarters, Kaduna.Served as Managing Director and CEO in Zaria Pharmaceutical Company (ZPC) Ltd, Zaria (Manufacturers of ZARINJECT disposable syringes and needles) & Zazzau Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (ZPIL), Zaria (Manufacturers of solid and liquid pharmaceutical products). In the Academic area, the foundation Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kaduna State University (KASU) at inception in 2012 as well as the pioneer Head,Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management in the University. Had delivered lectures on Part-time basis in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, ABU, Zaria continously for 36 years since 1986 ‘pro-bono’ .Joined Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO) first as Visiting,then Adjunct Professor. Presently full Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice and the first in the history of the University. In the area of Community Pharmacy, served as the first and only pharmacist Pharmaceutical Divisional Manager in the defunct Kaduna State Distribution Agency (KSDA). Appointed Registrar and CEO in the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) for two (2) terms totalling eight (8)years .Presently the Chairman of the Governing Council of the PCN since June, 2020. Attended more than 300 Workshops, Conferences and Seminars in Nigeria and abroad and presented Ninety- one (91) papers.
Authored eight books on pharmacy as sole author or co-author and edited twenty-two (22) titles on Pharmacy Regulations that were all published with ‘ISBN’. More than twenty five (25) peer-reviewed articles and published in learnered journals and conference proceedings. Received Fellowships in no fewer than six recognised Institutes,Societies and Associations. Elected President Worldwide of the ABU Alumni Association (2015-2021); National Chairman of the Conference of Alumni Association of Nigerian Universities (CAANU) (since 2016).
Foundation National Chairman of the ABU Pharmacy Alumni Association (ABUPAA) (1994-2010) and presently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Association(since 2010). Elected the first Interim National Chairman of the West African Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (WAPMA) for about two years from 2002. Member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Zaria Education Development Association (ZEDA). Secretary General of the Barewa Old Boys Association (BOBA) for nine(9) years.
Member of the ABU Governing Council from 2015 to 2021;Member of the Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH), Okada, Edo State, since 2020. Travelled to all the States of Nigeria and FCT was in about 86 cities in thirty three (33) countries of the world.
Honoured with three traditional titles of ‘Wakilin Maganin Zazzau’; ‘Iyan Piriga’ and ‘K’ayayen Sarkin Musulmi’ by the Zazzau Emirate Council of Kaduna State, the Piriga Traditional Council of the Lere LGC of Kaduna State and the Sokoto Sultanate Council respectively. Married and blessed with children and grandchildren.
