Biography

Professor Lucky Tijani Abdulsalami is a distinguished academic and the current University Librarian at Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO). Appointed to this principal officer role on July 1, 2020, he serves as the administrative and technical head of the entire IUO library system, overseeing the central main library and various college satellite libraries. He is a Professor of Library and Information Science and a prominent voice in the modernization of library services in Nigeria.  His academic background is extensive, featuring multiple advanced degrees including a PhD in Library and Information Science (2015), a Master of International Affairs and Diplomacy (2000), and a Master in Law and Criminal Justice (2005). Professor Abdulsalami has contributed significantly to his field with over 60 academic publications focusing on marketing information systems, ICT integration, and information management. In 2023, he delivered the university’s 23rd Inaugural Lecture, titled “Marketing of Library and Information Services: The Role of the Library,” where he advocated for increased investment in digital library infrastructure to combat misinformation. Beyond his university responsibilities, Professor Abdulsalami is an active consultant and researcher, currently serving as a facilitator and supervisor at the National Open University, Lafia branch. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the OMANARP International Journal and has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service, having previously contested for local government and state assembly positions in his home state of Kogi. His current research interests include the integration of emerging technologies like the Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence into academic library operations.
