Igbinedion University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering is set up to equip students for a successful career in mechanical engineering, including managing significant and intricate projects. Applied energy, engineering design and manufacturing, industrial and maintenance engineering, material and corrosion management, advanced fluid mechanics, refrigeration and air conditioning, thermal power engineering, etc. are some of the mechanical engineering specialties covered in this curriculum. Our aim for both our undergraduate and graduate programs is to turn out graduates with excellent academic standards, sufficient practical experience, direct value to industry and the country as a whole, and the capacity for self-employment. Additionally, its graduates will become highly competent and eco-friendly engineers who will be very relevant in the public and private sectors of the economy. Our programs are in consonance with the realization of national needs and aspirations vis-à-vis industrial development and technological emancipation. The department has many multidisciplinary collaborations with other institutions and the industry, in addition to other educational projects and research created to serve the host community. The mechanical engineering programs at the university began over two decades ago, and over the years the department has grown in many ways, producing many highly skilled, creative graduates who are engaged in different companies in Nigeria and abroad.
